    temporary internet

does HK have temporary internet services? I have an apartment in HK where I go for a one or two times a year, but seldom more than 1 month, so I can't use a fullfledged monthly connection.

Even dialup is good enough for me. Anyone got some advice?

the past few times I just logged into some unsecured wifi-network in the building, but I don't think I can rely on that every time

    SmarTone-Vodafone Mobile Broadband

You may want to consider the "Flexi" option of this service. Minimum payment of $100 buys you 50MB of data. It has territory wide coverage (unlike wifi), runs on upgraded 3G mobile network, known as HSDPA. You access it through a little USB modem which you can plug into a laptop or desk top PC or Mac. Speeds up to 3.6Mbps. The modem costs $2488 and is available from all SmarTone-Vodafone stores. Included in the Flexi pack is $100 of loaded credit plus 4 x $100 vouchers to use at any other time. So in fact you'll be paying $1988.

    I work for SmarTone-Vodafone.

If you give it a try let us know how you get on.

    cheers

You're going to have a TOUGH time selling that modem and (I've told folks at Vodafone this, so its not news) given that it is SIM locked, you're not going to be able to take it back home and lock it up.

    Netvigator.com has a WiFi option, so does y5zone.net ...

    Customer choice

    Hi KIA,

Yes, very true, it is SIM locked. Encouragingly, this has not appeared to be an issue for many thousands who have purchased our service and continue to use it in HK and abroad. We're really pleased with the way our Mobile Broadband service has been adopted so far.

Granted, there are other options available locally. Ours is the latest and we feel it is a very compelling proposition. As always, we're happy for customers to consider all their options and choose which one best fits.

Continued feedback is always appreciated and thanks for your recent support and review.

    Cheers
