    Power 3G

Is there anyone who uses the mobile service by "Power 3G" ? Bought a pre paid SIM at the airport and then topped up regularly ( Actually I thgouth it was '"3", good marketting trick I think, to have similar names) . The service was good initially but now on very cold or rainy days there is frequant breakages in signals. I will be in HK for 2 years and 10 months more... so need to decide whether to keep the same SIM or change it.. Thanks in advance.

Change it and go to a network that works in the cold and rain

Power3G is an MVNO running on someone else's network. I haven't been able quickly to find out which of the underlying networks it is though.

Thanks a lot.. I never knew about VMNOs!!!! Just found that this company has got their liscence as recently as 14 Oct 2011!!! and I bought the sim on 24 Oct 2011!!!! Their customer service is very difficult to get through and the re charge cards are available in only limited places. But the IDD charges are pretty low... Any inputs about other network operators with low IDD charges to south asian countries would be welcome..

OFTA - Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) Licences

List of MVNO licenses, however no mention of who they piggyback.

As for which network, there are literally dozens of threads dealing with this. Also you have not given any indication on how you want to use your phone, not much to go on to suggest which network.

For IDD, there are loads of services around which are independent of mobile providers. 1529 is quite popular here.

Thanks a lot for the input. I basically would use my mobile in very old fashioned way. Just to keep in touch with my collegues in HK which would be mostly via text messages and to call and text family in Sri Lanka. The latter would comprise of most of my uses. Not planing to use the mobile to surf net or anything.

The information is clearly available on their website (which I'm not going to link since I think you may be shilling for links).
