Uh I'm pretty sure any Hong Konger can play Playstation 2 games online as long as the game has online support. In fact I remember seeing some PS2s networked in the pacific coffee house.

if you have a network connection and an online game...then sure...why not?

now if its a bootleg game...you might have issues...
and if its a bad connection you might have issues....

I asked the same question to sony customer service HK.
short answer NO, sony [HONG KONG] does not support online games.

1- US , JAP and and AUS support online games native to the counrty.[no HK supported games]

BUT there is a way to play online games in HONG KONG,
    "X LINK KAI"
    can be found here-
    http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/

READ up about it at ps2-scene.org

you can link many units of PS2 together and have "link play"
but SONY does not provide online gameplay service for HK gamers!

the only way you can go online with your PS2 is
    (1)own a Japan version PS2
(2)buy the online kit **ethernet card, HDD
(3)register online service by using a fake Japanese address, and use your credit card for payment (but I know PS2 online service is not cheap, there are many monthly charges from different game company)

unlike XBOX LIVE, PS2's online service is run by various game company.
therefore you have to pay monthly fee for different games!

I would just stick with my XBOX LIVE (or XBOX 360 LIVE)

Is the Xbox 360 out yet?

It costs money to play Japanese games online? U.S. online games are free, but my japanese PS2 won't play them even with a mod chip.

    for PS2 games Japan version.

they charge you monthly fee on different games!!
only few games are included in the original monthly plan.

anyway, I am XBOX LIVE user since day 1 so I don't care about the SONY online service anymore.

**and I can use the same XBOX LIVE account in any of my XBOX machines
(I do own 1 unit HK version, 1 unit Japan version, and 1 unit USA version) **now all of them are kept in different houses

So when you log into a game, it asks you to enter in a credit card number or how does it work? How do you get the original monthly plan?

I own a Japanese "slim" PS2 with a mod chip. I'm pretty mad that I can't play my ORIGINAL U.S. games online due to the mod chip and even more mad that I have to pay a fee to play Japanese games online.

How much is it? Can I use a U.S. credit card?

you can use whatever credit card....(they accept anything)
but you just need to register the account by usinga fake Japanese postal address
**check the postal code to match with the region! (can find this information online)

you will know which games asking you for monthly fee, because they would ask you to accept the payment when you go online..
(the hardest part is how to stop the payment, I think)

I was active in gaming 1 year ago..so I know the procedure. (but not trying it myself)
**as I have mentioned, I am stick with XBOX LIVE only.
