    German bread

My husband would like to keep eating German bread when we move to HK (soon). Any suggestions?

La Rose Noire has some that approximate to it.

    Bake your own?

Das Gute also has some close to it.

Deli in basement of Holiday Inn Nathan Road bakes their own.

Das Gute have excellent German bread - my favoureds are their Mischbrot and Pumpernickel. The Deli in the basement of the Holiday Inn Golden Mile has excellent German bread too. I disagree with the La Rose Noir recommendation - most of their bread is done with yeast and not sour dough.

Are you suggesting that they label stuff inaccurately? They have several sorts of breads labelled as "sour dough" at my local Wellcome (Robinson & Seymour in the mid-levels), plus pumpernickel and dark rye breads and so on.

La rose noire . They have pretty proper German rye bread. Good texture.

I get bread and fresh croissants and bagels delivered every weekend at the Gold Coast by a German neighbour with a bakery. There are a few German breads on his list but haven't tried them yet.
