there is this wonderful invention.... it's called a MAP. if you check one, you can easily see that bangkok and phuket are miles and miles apart. you can also see that phuket is SOUTH of bangkok.... it is NOT flooding in phuket...

just so you know... you better not go to hong kong in december... they have snow in beijing... you are better off staying away from the whole country.

How many direct flights are there to Phuket though?

I believe that Bangkok airport was closed for a while which may cause problems getting in and out of Phuket.

I went to Koh Samui during the protests and BKK was closed. Had no trouble, no delays, nothing.

HK Express, Thai, Dragonair, Air Asia all fly direct to Phuket.

Also both Bangkok airports are open (old one closed on Tuesday, but seems to be open again), however chances are if flying via Bangkok there will be delays as both airports are very busy at the moment.

Clearly the flood is not affecting Phuket. That is such great news! Going on a solo trip to Phuket from Nov. 3-11. Can anyone recommend some tours to go on? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

All this reminds me of the time there was an earthquake somewhere in China* and the correspondent reporting on the BBC was in Tokyo. I sent an email asking why someone in Tokyo was reporting and pointed out that it was like someone in Istanbul reporting on London. A few hours later the correspondent's location had vanished off the site!

*sorry can't remember name but a LONG way from Japan!
