Singapore - Travel tips and sights to see ?

Anybody with any input on the must see sights in Singapore. We will be in Singapore for a week and there seem to be so many places to see and things to do. Suggestions welcome.

Also, has anyone here tried the famed street food in Singapore. I've received conflicting views on Singapore street food. There are people who say "never" and then again, there are people who've said that Singapore street food is a "must try".

BTW you might get lucky finding good hawker food but then again you might be effectively chained to your hotel room toilet for a week. IMO the risk/reward of eating such street cuisine is nor worth it. Do you partake in delicacies on the streets of New Dehli or in third world places like Vietnam? If the answer is yes then maybe your have a cast iron stomach. Its probably not the quality of the staples but the cleanliness in preparation.

I would put Sing street food on a par with HK. I.e. You could be pretty unlucky and get sick, but most of it is fine. Certainly wouldn't compare it to India which is a whole different ball game.

Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Zoo & The Botanical Gardens are beautiful and absolutely worth a visit. Singapore Flyer is okay and having a drink on top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel will give you an awesome view of Singapore. Universal Studios is fun on Sentosa Island. Shopping in Singapore I find better and more fun than in HK...more variety, better quality especially during the great Singapore Sale. Food in hawker stalls is delicious! I recommend East Coast Food Village (stall 55) over Lau Pa Sat for satay, better quality and lots of choices for other scrumptious foods. East Coast Seafood Village e.g. Jumbo or Long Beach have divine black pepper crab! Have fun & enjoy!

Universal Studios - from the looks of it, it's going to take a whole day. Someone mentioned to me a couple of days back that the Singapore Zoo takes up a good half day.

Has anyone done the Treetop Walk on the MacRitchie Reservoir ?? I believe it's really good - a long walk though. We hike a lot in HK and we're seriously considering doing the treetop walk in Spore.

Make sure you take in the Night Safari. I recommend you do the walking tour rather than take the tram. Don't forget Little India and China Town too. And if you would like some wet fun try "Wild, Wild Wet."
