    KL for CNY?

Thinking of going on a city-break for CNY (to get away and avoid being trapped with other holiday makers in a resort). Is KL worth a visit?

KL is worth a visit but many Chinese-owned shops may be closed, at least on the eve and first day of CNY.

Go to Malacca for CNY if you want a taste of very traditional Straits Chinese celebrations. Memorable and fascinating.

Try to avoid travelling on highway (e.g. take bus / taxi from KL to Malacca) during CNY period. Usually it has heavy traffic in Malacca and Penang on the first to fourth day of CNY. But it's worth of visit to experience to their celebration especially on CNY eve and first day. Good if you have chinese friend in Malaysia so that you join them for celebration.

Thanks for the tips! Sounds interesting, will consider KL and Malacca for either CNY or regular NY.
