Transport from Tuen Mun to Quarry Bay/Taikoo

    Hello,

I'll be moving to hong kong next week, my office is at PCCW Tower at Quarry Bay. Can anyone tell me the transportation available from Tuen Mun? Bus, MTR, etc.

    Thanks for your help!

I would take the 962 Bus from Tuen Mun and get off at the first stop in the city which is at the Shun Tak Building. This is where the ferries go across to Macau and downstairs is the Sheung Wan MTR line. This is the last stop on the Island Line and it takes about 10-15 minutes on the MTR from here to Quarry Bay. With Sheung Wan being the end of the line there is a good chance you will get a seat.

The bus is good in that it only makes about 2 stops between the Gold Coast and the City and the whole journey can take as little as 20 mins but if it is peak traffic times the bus could take about double that time but at least unlike a taxi you are not paying by the minute.

I think it depends if you meant Gold Coast or Tuen Mun. If Gold Coast, then I tend to agree with the poster above. Alternative options are the residents bus if you live in Phase 1 or 2. But if you really meant Tuen Mun central, then there are quite a few different options and some much more direct buses to Central (to connect with the MTR) - such as the 961 or the 962X. Which are faster.

To be honest I have NEVER found that the 962 from the Gold Coast takes 20 minutes, the best I probably ever have had was 25-30 mins to the first stop and that was out of peak time.

Thanks Movingin07 and Iarac for the info!

I'll be staying at Phase II, therefore I'll be taking the resident bus most probably. From your answer, I guess there won't be any transportation bringing me to Quarry Bay directly?

    Thanks again!

No there isn't but even if there was taking the MTR would still be quicker as the stretch between the Western Tunnel & Quarry Bay is super busy during peak times - at least with the MTR the time it takes to get from Sheung Wan to Quarry Bay would be more or less the same every day.

The residents bus will take you to very close to central station in approx 30 mins or near(ish) to wan chai (3 min walk) in around 35 mins. Both of which will be fine for Quarry Bay. I wouldn't advise anything else from Phase 2, but bear in mind this is a limited service (7:05am; 7:35am; 7:50am; 8:20am and 9:35am) and coming back (5:45pm, 6:15pm; 6:45pm; 7:15pm and 8pm from central, 5 mins later (and a faster journey) from wan chai. It works great for commuting, not so great if you work odd hours...
