So you used a load of swearing to draw attention so that you would probably get banned and people would say, Oh look, there go the editors again. Whereas if you'd just said you were really annoyed by what HC had said nothing would have happened.

Actually no. Its the freedom of the press argument; the one that says only the press owner has the freedom.
The problem (as I see it) is that the banter seems to seep into every single thread including a boring one such as "where can I buy some diapers". It gets to a point where the entire site is one big banter.I like this site, I like the differences in opinions, and caustic, adult banter.
I even like some of the idiots here.
I think it would be a shame if over-enthusiastic policing diminishes the vitality and interest in this site to the point where is only good for 'where can I buy diapers' questions.
TPTB have tried previously to keep the 2 parts (Boring vs Banter) separate but have not been entirely successful.
I dont think so. I believe the intent is stop every single thread from turning into a banter/politics/opinions/controversy.....Maybe the intent is to get away from politics, opinions, religion and controversy and become another classified/marketing site, and we are finding out the hard way?
Exactly my point AlienDavid - We are not children, we are adults and sometimes adults have the need to say something. I can imagine the people who reported many of Luckycat's posts were politically correct people with no sense of humor. I know I can get on your nerves but I thought Luckycat had an excellent sense of humor and I can't see how anyone would find any of his posts offensive. So now that the politically incorrect folks will be gone you can all talk nice to each other.
It's a damn shame that PDLM is gone. While yes, he could be very pedantic about people having the correct visa for their purpose of stay, he would always assist in researching and posting links for information that clearly some people were too lazy to scope out on their own.
I shall miss him....as I already miss LC.
Do you really need to say it in every single thread or could you keep the adult conversations in adult areas?
I highly doubt this had anything to do with political correctness but more to do with TPTB wanting to keep some amount of sanity and decorum on the boards.I can imagine the people who reported many of Luckycat's posts were politically correct people with no sense of humor. LC's humour was lovely but heck, it didnt belong in practically every thread that was started.
PDLMs information was great - but do we need to ask every new poster what their visa status is? It may be funny for the regulars but its annoying for anyone new coming in.
I could go on, but I'll stop. Anyway, I've got nothing todo with this so I dont know why you're throwing curses at my direction; I'm just speculating based on previous comments made by TPTB.
Is this like Atlas Shrugged when all the thinkers get fed up with needless nit-picking and withdraw to a place where more enlightened minds can flourish, rather than constantly being nannied?
oh well, I got banned over the weekend (but I wasn't in HK nor did I have access to the net so no big deal) for reporting one of my own post. How good is that :-)?
