Could you help me and my cat?

I'm a student here in HK and I will be going back home next month but I will be flying from Beijing. Last month I found a kitten ( almost dead) I brought her back home and took care of her but I couldn't find anyone to take her after i left. So I decided that I want to take her home.

My friend wil come to HK and fly back on the 17th of Jan. only I'm leaving HK on the 10th. Is there an animal lover here who could take care of my cat for a week before she goes to Holland. Or is there someone who is flying to Amsterdam before the 10th that can take my cat. Of course I will pay everything. she had all her shots and a chip so she is allowed to fly.

    Thanks

Have you thought through all the EXPORT requirements for live animals from HK:

AFCD Export of Animals & Products of Animal Origin

And the IMPORT requirements for whatever country you are shipping your cat to? It isn't so simple as having shots and a chip - there is a substantial amount of paperwork involved, you will need permits, certificates from a vet, you must have the correct airline approved shipping crates, etc.

Whoever helps you out will likely have to do a vet visit shortly before the animals' flight, and take care of other formailities, which, if performed incorrectly, will strand the cat in HK.

Suggest you consider talking to a company that does this sort of thing regularly - there is Ferndale Cattery and there are many others discussed on this board:

I recommend you contact George at Internationalpettravel.com. He is very good and was the contact point for when we moved our kitty across from Dubai. There was no problem.

george is FANTASTIC, we deal with him very regularly (about once per month or more) and have done for about 8 years.

there is really a LOT more to exporting your pet than shots and a microchip. i would strongly suggest you contact a professional to lend you a hand with this.

    Hi
Thanks for the info! All the paper work for the cat is arranged for export from HK and import to The Netherlands. The only thing I still have to do is to get an health certificate max 10 days before the flight. And I will do that my self (i will leave on the 10th to China and the cat on the 17th from HK with my friend) I'm only looking for some one who can take care of teh cat for a week.

Book her either into the boarding facility for cats at the SPCA ( about 80HK$ per day) or at Furrball Cattery in Po Hing, Sheung Wan, contact is Kenny who adores cats and the facility is great. 2517 8666 is the phone no.

    Hi Myrna,
I would love to help you out, if I can. We are from Holland as well but won't be flying to Amsterdam before January 10. Just one question...does your little one need to be taken care of at your own home or not? Is she used to strangers and could she acclimatize in a strange appartment you think? Ik hoor het wel. ;-)

She stayed at my friends playce before and that wasn't a problem. She likes to sit with me when I'm at home but I'm not at home that much. I think she'll survive for a week.
can I pm you when I know more aboout when my friend comes to HK? ( he's dutch too)

    Super bedankt
