legally no, unless your lease offers u a get out clause.
see if you can offer to pay him one month or so and get out of it, else u can bolt, but that might mean you are a legal fugitive in hk and unable to come back here without facing possible legal actions if landlord chooses to pursue.
You are right. Landlord is God here until you really decided to waste your money, time and peace.
actually, fortunately, no.
landlord is given much less protection under law than tenants. that's why you see alot of picky landlords not willing to rent out to some profiled people.
like i said, u can bolt and they have minimal things they can do on u to get back the money
But the problem is if i want to get my deposit money back then they are the lord.
Ummm .. the agreement is the lord.![]()
But something landlord starts crying for small thing like cleaning and tenant doesnt want to waste time.. at that time owner deducts any amount from the deposit
Did you fulfill your contract? If not, then he is the lord.....
even if we sign the contract, and as per the contract, he has to return money. At last moment if he deducts 50% and return every thing else. then.
So have you signed the contract and did you complete your lease? If you signed and completed the lease, then landlord is bad.....if you didn't hold up to your part of the bargain, what do you expect? I've rented places in Australia and now in HK, I would think that it's very similar. Complete lease, and apartment clean, you get bond back. Have to admit that there were times that apartments were not as clean as when i moved out, I did get my bond deducted. It's just all part and parcel of renting.
