Elevator button rant

Now, many Asian cultures are known as "Coconut" culture..meaning a "Hard outer shell." It is extremely difficult to gain trust, intimacy etc, as an outsider. Much of this stems for the Chinese Survival instinct (where the only thing which is important if Family). Thus, everything and everyone else in the world are completely irrelevant as long as it doesn't concern them or people inside the "Coconut shell".

My co-worker, who has been in China/Taiwan/HK for 40 years says basically the same thing. You don't exist unless they know you.
To me that means you feel you can be a total a***ole to 6.5 billion people and nice to your friends.

i generally do not use the DC button, but in my apartment you'd have to use that...

there are a whole row of 6 lifts, and people are taking lifts from two sides.. so essentially people at lift 6 will not walk to lift 1 to take an opening lift, they more likely wait for lift 4 and 5... vice versa.

but pressing the button at any of the lift causes the closing door even far away to reopen. unless someone inside the lift is pressing the DC button continuously to overwrite.

a person at lift 6, press the button, causes lift 1 to reopen, but he will not walk to lift 1 to take the lift!

similar system in my office tower as well...

so its the character of the nation translating into the system setup and definition.
