    mtr

its really frustrating when ppl rush in even before they let passengers out of the coaches. If you can't stop 'em then, join them! Whenever I am the the first person to leave the coach, I'll give an incoming passengers a mean look and if they still rush in, i'll conciously, but slightly, nudge them...

at times, like this in the mtr.. i just wish i am carrying big bags of durians.. even if u have to stand in the mtr.. it's only a short trip.. there's no reason to rush in .. when people are still coming out.

Not just the MTR, same thing standing outside or inside the elevator; ppl rushing to get in before you are even out, or vice versa. Step aside, people, there will be room for you in 1/2 a second!

to add to the topic of the MTR station...with people rushing in even before you get out...

lets talk about...people rushing in...and you cant even get out..and you miss your stop..and end up having to get off at the next station..and then walking to the opposite side to get to the previous station...

or miss the bus stop..coz peope just won't let u off...and then you get off at the next station...to have to walk back again.....

    People are not courteous

basically I find people here lacking coutesy. You dont see them smile at you when you walk past, they will look at the floor and avoid eye contact.
Go out on a rainy day and for sure an umbrella will poke your eye.

Agree with krypton. So much more of a friendlier ambience among the general populace in places like KL, Singapore and Bangkok. Leads to the question - is grimness and soullessness an inevitable corollary of greater efficiency?

But that's common in any big city, isn't it? Depends on the situation, of course, but if strangers passing by smiled at me, I would be a bit creeped out - my gut instinct would be that they've got something to sell or similar.

fly: can't speak for you, but if I take a walk and see a couple of smiling faces I feel better, uplifts the mood. I am not suggesting people stare at each other or stand idly grinning at everyone that passes, its those little momentary smiles, acknowledgement that other exist.

If you run into someone at a corner, or accidently brush past someone rushing at the MTR a nod and smile dosent look like selling to me.
