Heading to Hong Kong? Don't forget your hiking boots - latimes.com
Thought it was good to post for newcomers who want to do something else than shopping o drinking (or whining about how much it's better back home) ;-)

Talking of pockets of serenity, what is the name of the Monastery gardens in Kowloon? Near Diamond Hill I think.
It is beautiful to wander around the gardens of Chi Lin Nunnery.Very peaceful with the chaos left behind the wall.
Also lovely to stop and have vegetarian dimsum in the restaurant behind the waterfall.
I also like Kowloon Walled City Park. It;s right in the middle of the city but it feels rather quiet there.
nice, maybe moving to HK wont be that bad afterall
Totally agreed. It's one of my favorite spot in the city. Relaxing simply to walk around there. That small museum on traditional Chinese wooden architecture (with actual small scale models of buildings) is really nice.
Interesting enough, visitors there often believed it is a Japanese garden and temple. In fact, it is based on Chinese Tang Dynasty style, which Japanese architecture has copied and retained to a certain degree, hence the confusion.
