PCCW NOW TV scam

Just to let everyone know, this scam is still going on.
I just got a knock at the door a few days ago.
My g/f was home, I wasn't, she refused to let him in.
Last night they came again, and said they were there because I had called about connection problems before and they had just upgraded the lines to my apartment and were there to check if my equipment was working properly and do some minor setup on the box to utilize the new connections.

I let them in and all they did was load up my NOW TV box, look at my account info, make a call to their offices and get all my account details on how to sell me other services.

After I realized what was going on, I clearly asked the lady why they were there. She said, we're here to check if you have all the latest equipment for our services, etc, etc...she was amazing at obscuring that she was there to sell me more services and land a sale.
I even almost signed up for a new plan until I decided to analyze what was going on.

I know in HK hard sales and dodgy sales practises aren't enforced, but just a thought..that's trespassing on false pretenses of doing maintenance work...of which they did none, and are not qualified to. Both of which would be easy to prove.
Wouldn't it also be a breach of personal privacy as they loaded up my box to find out my name and account information, especially after accessing it by lying that they were there to do maintenance?

If so...I next time I would let them in...and then call the police and keep them busy till the cops arrive.
I'm sure if everyone started calling the cops at least they'd stop coming.

OML, they had come twice to my place few days ago citing the same reason you mentioned, and both times I happily let them in, the smile on their face was quickly replaced with a look of incredulity when they couldn't find the telly.......
I took the channels but haven't yet bought the tv...yeah I am a bit quirky!

what's more, I have heard that some of the sales stuff are not even employed by PCCW but are freelancers. can anyone confirm this ?

They probably thought either I am crazy or poor, so no reason to stay.

as i live in a village and on the ground floor, i get these so called agents quite a few times a month, each time a different telling me their upgrading this, upgarding that, giving me a free box to split my Now TV and Internet so the speed is faster blah blah blah, i have only ever let them in once and all he did was what happend to OML, looked at my account info, called up PCCW to find out my contract details and try to sell me new things, told him to get the F@%K out.

2 weeks ago I got some other agent trying another version and that was my inital agent that I had used to set up Now TV and Internet has been promoted and he cant look after my account, that agent specifically told him to take over my account, I was bored so entertained his bullsh!t but I specifically warned him, I'll let you enter my house and check my box but dont try to sell me anything, if you do you aint comming in, he came in, checked my account details on the box, called up pccw and did the same and said he will contact me a few days to give me more free channels. Like hell he did, at least he didnt sell me anything.

The worst is 2 agents in one night within a hour, after the 1st one came and tried his BS, 30 mins later a chick walks up and tries the same BS, I told her one of your people just came by, does she listen, NOOOOOOOOOO, she still tries to talk BS. I just walk back into the house ignoring her and letting my dogs out into the garden to bark at her.

They come by a few times a year, and usuallyl at REALLY odd hours, like 11 pm on a Sunday night. I just tell them they're not coming in and I'm not interested.
