most of the radios I have seen connected to local hikers, are about 1/3rd the sice of a mobile phone so size weight not an issue. Although it annoys me to most of the time they are goind the other way, so the noise soon passes, if they are going my way, they are usually faster, or if not I kick out there zimmer frames
This is freaking hilarious. It really does highlight some differences in culture! They would HATE our place, which is quiet and dark, with the TV on only when we are actually watching it (I hate random "noise" in the background - which is I guess why the radios bug me so much). I'd love to see these guys try tramping in NZ - where you stay overnight in a hut with no electricity (let alone tv), so pitch black at night, dead quiet except for the rustling of the kiwi's and with several large human kiwis in the hut who would flatten anyone turning on a radio! (Although they are the kind of hike where even a mobile phone sized radio would count as excess weight......)
