    Phone Number Display

    Why the landline numbers aren't displayed on the mobile screen when someone calls, and displays "Witheld" or "Unknown" or "Private"? Is it just my service provider or everyone's?
    Back home be it cell phone or landline with caller id, it'd display all numbers.

    Any caller can choose to withhold their number either on a call-by-call basis or permanently. This is true in every country I know of. If the caller hasn't done that then, for domestic calls at least, the number is displayed.

    Withheld = private and means that the caller has withheld their number

    Unknown almost certainly means its an international call where the caller line ID has got lost or mangle somewhere along the line.

    Withheld numbers are usually sales people trying to sell a service eg. change of mobile phone service provider, lending money etc. You can usually just reject those calls.

    I don't think so, the land line number at my apartment also come up as withheld on my cell phone. Funnily enough the sales cold calls number flashes and usually starts with 3 and as soon as I get a chance to put in a word in between the canto flow, they hang up saying sorry when they realise I don't understand canto so wrong target for them.

    Your landline could have permanent caller ID blocking oin unknown to you. Try this from your landline:

    <Dial 1357>
    <Wait for second dialtone>
    <Dial your mobile number>

    See what it displays.
