Just for your info: 1 Liter of gas is about HK$12 US$1 = HK$7.8
Parking: HK$20 per hour; or 3,000 per month, depending on location
    Tunnel: HK$ 10

For comparison: I pay HK$ 7.50 for a bus ride to my office (25min). No need for parking, repair, insurance, etc.

Hong Kong is very convenient in regard to transport.
I disagree. I own a car and I am not loaded. It's all about budget and not over using the car.

BTW what tunnel is $10? I don't know of any tunnel that costs that.

    Cross Harbour: $20
    Western: $40
    Eastern: $25
    Aberdeen: $5
    Tseung Kwan O $3
    Tai Lam: $25
    Sha Tin (E) $8
    Sha Tin (C) $6
Tsing Ma Bridge $30 (Round trip paid at the same time)
I forget the rate between Sha Tin - Tsuen Wan, and can't think of anymore tolls at the moment.

Sorry, I'm here too long and know only the old prices. And I don't take a taxi anymore from LKF to CWB to know the new prices.

OK, let's say in average the tunnel fee is $18.

Just remember that car owners forfeit their right to complain about HK air pollution.

That will be okay as long as you buy a diesel. I love the smell of diesel in the morning.

don't listen to those who don't drive in hk!!!
Hong kong is a DUTY FREE port which no tax is imposed on the cars that are imported!!!!

However, there is no way that you can register your RX in HK since it is left handed drive...
please keep in mind that Hong Kong is a RHD place...

And wrong as well. There is no Customs Duty on imported cars, but there is a huge First Registration tax. Transport Department - Guidelines for Importation and Registration of Motor Vehicle

You can bring in any car you want duty free but to use it on the road will require and emissions test and first registration tax which is based on the car value plus shipping. The tax is 35% for the first 150k of value, 65% on second 150k, 85% of next 200k and 100% on remaining value.

Only really makes sense for high end vehicles which can be bought half the HK value in UK and shipped. Big business in that.
