    LPAT exemption and rules

My school are asking me to take the LPAT exam again (I've failed the grammar section 2 years running) but I frankly really can't be bothered as I'm already studying for my PGCEi this year.

Question is, am I allowed to say "no" and pass on it? Is it an absolute must for a teacher in HK? I'm working at a local EMI school.

    Thanks!

    When did you start there?

Three years ago. Well, 2012 but I've just started my third academic year.

Here is the latest Memorandum on the matter from the EDB. Unless you are temporary or an NET, it appears necessary to teach the language.

Are you employed under the NET scheme?

Have you looked into the reasons why you failed? Not spending enough prep time? Or some gaps in your knowledge that need to be addressed?

    No I'm not.

And I guess I failed due to lack of preparation. I studied quite hard but there were some gaps in my knowledge.
