Lots of places in Wanchai where you would not need to know Chinese. Try Ebneezers on Luard Rd for a decent lamb biryani. Fair number of Indian restaurants and cuisine from around the world for around $30-40.

The other option (which worked for me a while back) was to get your colleagues to teach you how to order, yes you'll make mistakes, but atleast you'll learn a bit.

The lady who ran the curry lunch outfit, finally gave up almost 2 years ago, as her delivery system which relied on Filipino and Sri Lankan Domestic Helpers proved too unreliable. However all is not lost as there is a Pakistani joint under the walkway from Wanchai MTR-Immigration Tower It is off Lockhart Road-They deliver in the area.

Am pasting this from PCCW directory inquiry on 'Kiran' in TST - Kiran's Provision Store, Mirador Mans (G-2/F) Tel: 2723 5672, 2723 6055

For HKD 20 you get a vegetarian set-lunch box handed over MTR station turnstiles (Admiralty & Central for sure, I didn't ask about Wanchai) - the "boy" will even wait 5-7 min if you're late. Confirm order 11 something latest. Many have standing orders for daily delivery with weekly payment. Within the constraints of a dal, a veg dish, rice, 2 rotis (3 if you skip rice), the actual set varies daily. Rice can vary too (pulao, lemon, etc). This is all from the lady (Kiran?) I spoke with a few minutes ago.

I'm just ressurecting this thread to ask if any of the Indians on the board can recommend any lunchtime tiffin delivery services?

Someone introduced me to Indian Village and they delivered a delicious lunch to my office in Central last week - $38 HKD for a vegetarian curry (changes every day), rice, daal and 2 chapatis. There is also a chicken / mutton option for a little more money (I don't know how much).

So are there any other 'tiffin' delivery services for Central? I am keen to try out a couple before deciding which one will deliver my daily lunch :-)

Do you have details of this HK$38 tiffin set?

BTW see this thread as well:

You can call Indian Village on 2525 5488 in the morning to make a lunch order. They change the veg curry on offer each day.

This Indian lunch box sounds much bigger than the average local Cantonese lunch box.

But I guess we knew that anyway.
