Crillon ball every year in Paris. Some of the US southern communities have them, I hear.
The American Club used to hold a Cotillion every year for high school kids (no, not in 1776, in modern times!). Involved a few months of dance classes and awards were given out for best dancers AND most courteous child (they had some other name for it, but it basically meant always greeting the organisers by name politely, writing back promptly and in correct form when they sent correspondence, etc etc).
Now the topic's been raised, I'm curious to know if they still do that?
Z754 - Yes they do ... very popular in the posh and pretty circles here in HK. Sad part is most of the kids there are not from down south in the US.
Who knows, dancing and table manners might be essential in the survivalist's toolkit.
