    HKBN ISP port blocking?

    Hi

Anyone aware of ISPs in HK (specifically HKBN) blocking ports?

I didn't think that was the case, but having issues with one specific service and all indications seem to be that my ISP is blocking a specific port.

Is this inbound or outbound blocking?

PM me the port number if you don't want to reveal it here.

I normally use this tool to check that stuff

Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router

    Thanks guys.

Bit of detail. Trying to set up Logitech Media Server (LMS). It seems inbound port 3483 is being blocked. Basically this connects to mysqueezebox.com.

I have used the open port check tool already (or something similar) but this seems to suggest port 3483 is open (but don't know if that is for incoming or outgoing).

Its not a firewall or antivirus issue as I've tried using a 3g modem router and tethering with my phone and no problems that way. Its also not my router as I've plugged my computer directly into my modem and the port still remains blocked.

pin - will check later tonight when I get home. 3xxx range is usually open (although I prefer to use ports in the 5xxx range).

probably ISP will block TCP port 25 (SMTP), but i don't think ISP will block this (TCP/UDP) Port number

Is your firewall forwarding inbound connections to the correct IP (that of the LMS) ?

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I think I may have solved the problem, I think it might be my smartDNS service causing the problems. I however won't be able to test until my boss stops watching her TV show.

can't you simply use another DNS server for the device in question?
no need for a network-wide change..

I know they traffic shape, but have had no issues with port blocking.
