    Poisoned by my underwear

After suffering from incredibly itchy breasts, I hope I have found the cure. Ditching all my Chinese-made bras, especially those with padding eg push-ups, t-shirt bras etc. After only 2 days of wearing old bikini tops and waiting for my organic cotton underwear to arrive from USA and Australia, the itch has gone away. A few days ago, while unable to sleep because of an overpowering desire to scratch myself crazy, I read a blog from an American woman who described the same problem. Her answer? Formaldehyde in bras.

I am interested to know if others have this problem.

    Formaldehyde in bras.
It is very common to have this in not just BRAS but a lot of clothing, even in childrens clothing especially if the product is intended for the local market, if selling to retailers, some will request testing to see if the product has Formaldehyde in it or not.

Formaldehyde. It is most commonly associated with preserving corpses, but, alarmingly, many big clothing chains also use it to give their wares a fresh, unwrinkled appearance and prevent mildew during shipping.

Given that China still dominates the more technical apparel manufacturing industries then the chances are your bra's will come from China (or maybe Sri Lanka).

It is probably more sensible to look at the brand and see if they have a good long term reputation for quality or if you have very sensitive skin look for specialist natural fibre brands without additives.

True east coast but then I don't tend to buy china brands or lower end brands.

I'd rather pay more for them to last more than a year or two

Not only bras are a problem; I just didn't mention the underpants problem. Thanks for the Victoria's Secret information.
