All I have found so far is on Ebay

I am also looking for a metal detector, and as of yet have had no luck at all. I hear they sell them on Hollywood ROad, so I will look around a bit later when I am free... IF you have found ou anything please let me know?

THanks.... and good luck helping out your friend!

Have seen them hend helds for HK$200 in Kowloon.
They look like the ones used at the Airport.
Two different versions. One looks like a shrinked cricket bat and the other one has a circular thingy at the end.

Yeah, the dude wants the kind you use to look for buried treasure with, not the kind you use to find people's pocket change at the airport.

    Whatz the problem doc?

Just fix that dang hand-held device to a broom stick and you're good to go, or get those telescopic ones for 10 Honkers from Japan household store, Pricerite, Jusco Discount, etc.

lol that's an idea. Some of the better metal detectors actually tell you what kind of metal you're directly over, which is great if you're at the French Riviera or something. I remember when my sister lost a gold earring in the water in Greece. She actually found it a few minutes later!
