So today when I went to buy a new plug to replace on my Dysan, we asked the shop about cleaning air conditioners. They said that they do cleaning services. They said that we didn't need to bother with our more recently purchased units, only the older ones. She said that the ones from four years ago were still considered pretty new so it wasn't necessary. We bought our flat over four years ago and we kept the in-window one in our living room so we plan to get that one cleaned. All others were replaced when we moved in.

So their service includes coming to our flat to pick up the air conditioner. Taking it back to their location to clean them out and thoroughly spray clean the inside metal part and then air dry it and re-install it. The charge is $400 per unit for the in-window type and $500 for the split type.

Sounds pretty reasonable and based on their advice, they seem pretty reasonable and believable.

completely unnecessary. just clean out the filter twice a year. four times a year if you use your ac year round
