    Question Moving to HK from India..what should i bring?

    Hi;

    I would be moving to HK from India with a new job. Want to know following:

    1. As part of relocation, what all electronic & furniture item i should bring from India? Relocation would be born by my employer. Does it make sense to trf my existing SPLIT ACs ?
    2. My office would be Kowloon...which residential area i should explore for flat.
    3. I would be looking for International Schooling...what are the options?
    4. Any thing else i should know?

    Thanks in advance.

    Can you be more specific with your wants & needs? All pretty general questions.

    My one piece of general advice would be this; focus on your kids schooling & work backwards from there. Choosing & getting your kids into a proper school is item one on the list.

    other than that try to live in close proximity to work & school. The less time you spend stuck in public transport the happier you will be.

    Do not bring split ac or any other appliances. Apartments here are tiny. Schools are a problem & expensive. How old are your children? Worry about their schools first.

    When you rent an apartment it already has acs fitted in so please don't bring any. Also about furniture I would not recommend bringing your bed if larger than queen size. Here bedrooms are really small and beds are small too. Many apartments when you rent have fridge, microwave, washing machine and gas stove all fitted in. When we moved from Mumbai though we had shipping provided by company we did not choose to bring our furniture, which I think was prudent.
